A large variety of hotels of different categories is offered by the hotel booking portal of the Bamberg Tourism & Congress Services (TKS). You should make use of the filter to select a hotel in the downtown area, otherwise many accommodations in surrounding villages will be offered:

August is high tourist season in Bamberg, so you are encouraged to make your booking as soon as possible. Besides the possibility to reserve your accommodation using the above links, you could also use booking engines such as HRS, hotel.de, booking.com, expedia, or travelocity. However, the rooms offered by these portals tend to be in the larger and more expensive hotels. The hotel booking engine of the Bamberg Tourism & Congress Services also offers rooms in smaller hotels not available through the large booking engines, but you should be aware that some of these hotels are rather far outside the city center, so check the location before booking, because public transportation to the surrounding villages might be difficult, especially in the later evening or at night.
