Summer has arrived and Amsterdam is a buzz with action through the long days and warm nights. Canals are bustling with boats and terraces are filled through the night. June also kicks off a busy festival period. Open air music festivals such as IJazz, and Amsterdam Roots Festival fill the soundwaves, the Holland Festival is a cultural explosion and there's great live performances at the Vondelpark Open Air Theatre.

 Beer!  

The best beer in town is made in small batches at a windmill brewery not far from the school, Brouwerij 't IJ.  It's not really a bar, but you can go to the windmill and join tons of other locals drinking the handcrafted brews (also to be found in many local bars), outside, but only open until 20:00.  Here is the link to the brewery (you can also take a tour): www.brouwerijhetij.nl
